It’s your 7th Father’s Day, Emmanuel! Perfect timing for me to telling you how perfect you are for our kids.
When we met, of course I wasn’t thinking about who you’d be as a father. It was all about the kind of person I wanted and needed in my life and that was who you were. We were almost a year into marriage when we got to know that we were expecting. Your excitement that day we saw those two lines was amazing. And then your care throughout the period. You accompanied me to each visit to the gynae and you were so keen to be a part of our child’s life even before he was here.
Then came labour day. You were up with me all night timing contractions. You were right there beside me when I was pushing the baby out, assuring me that I could do this. You allowed me to rest afterwards and took care of all that needed to be done.
7 years later with 3 kids in our nest, your care and dedication to the kids has remained. When I chose you, it was a good husband I saw. The good father in you has been such an awesome addition.
Mother’s Day this year, you were at work while I was in church with the kids. I sat there as they sang praises to mothers while I struggled to handle the two younger kids who wouldn’t go to Sunday school. Let me say, I was glad when a couple of people asked where you were. Wow! They get it! They see it! I can only be a good mother when the good father I married is around.
You are the perfect father to our kids, Emmanuel. Happy Father’s Day.
