Meet the Appiahs

I know in my last post where I talked about my labour and delivery experience, I promised that my next post will be about my postpartum experience. However, I realised I’m tired of calling my kids Number 1 and Number 2. I mean for how long? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

I decided that instead of just switching to their names, how about I make a full post where you get to meet the entire family. Deal? Let’s do this!

Emmanuel Kofi Appiah. The Daddy and the Hubby. A man of few words. Like you literally have to prompt him to talk. You will mostly find me asking him, “Oh, no comment?” after I have finish telling my 100 page story. However, the little he says can be so crazy. Yes, strongest sense of humour. Lol. A patient and supportive husband, very helpful with the kids and thinks he’s a superman. ๐Ÿคซ He’s the sensible calm voice I need when I am freaking out (which is almost every time, hehe) Ladies and gentlemen, Emmanuel!

Paschal Asempa Appiah aka Number 1. Currently 2 years, 5 months. Standard Terrible Two-er. Hehe. Even before our kids were born, we picked Akan names and simply decided our first will be Asempa whether male or female. Asempa means “Good News”. As Catholics, we decided we will pick a saint celebrated on the birth date of each child as their first name. Interestingly, Paschal was born in the season of Easter and we decided we will name him after the season! Paschal simply means Easter. (It has Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew roots). Within the first week of meeting Paschal, we knew he had a strong will and he hasn’t disappointed us yet. He knows what he wants and he knows how to get it. I see him as the future chatterbox of the family and the one who would fight for all of us. Hehe. We also see an engineer in him by observing the way he plays. But anyway, we are still observing. Readers, Asempa!

Theodore Ayemye Appiah aka Number 2. Currently 10 months. Mummy’s boy. What breastmilk has done to this young man, only God knows! Ayemye was the name we picked for our second. Ayemye means “Goodness or Kindness”. Literally “doing me good”. On the day of his birth, Theodulus is one of the saints celebrated. However, we both happen to have a liking for the name Theodore so we conveniently switched to that. Theodore means Gift of God. Remember Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks? That’s our son. Calm, collected, loves to be cuddled. Once again, we saw this early on and we are not wrong yet. He loves his sleep but food is not his best friend. Oh yeah, lest I forget. He’ll most likely end up as the tallest in the family. The pediatrician at his hospital visit one week after birth referred to him as a “long” baby. Yes, he’s literally long. Dear friends, Ayemye!

Last but not the least, yours truly, Cheryl Dzifa Appiah. The writer. The storyteller. I love to observe people and love to tell stories about what I observe to whomever will listen. Hubby thinks I over-analyse stuff but well, someone has to, right? ๐Ÿ˜‡ I am blessed to have these three men in my life. Any day, any time, I will choose this family. Audience, I take a bow.
