Last week, I did something for Asempa and he said his usual “Thank you, Mummy,” and then added, “You’re my hero!” In that moment, I felt like all my worries and stresses of life were over. That become the standard format of appreciation for the rest of the week and it never ceased to have such a strong effect on me.
Ayemye would occasionally come and find me in the room (when I decide to leave them in the hall to do their toddler magic there) and give me a long hug. Like someone just took time off his busy toddler day to come and hug me? Really???
This adulting life … this motherhood journey … it’s these little things that make you feel it’s worth it after all.
